He was working his days away

He thought his job was everything

He wouldn’t get home till super late

And the kids wouldn’t be awake

So his wife would become irate

Because she wanted to be the thing

He wanted to spend time with

One day he got tired of all the fighting and arguing

And started buying 'em bottles

To get over the fact that he didn’t

Wanna be any part of it anymore

And the liquor store became his best friend

That’s when his wife and his kids grew distant

And then when the mirror slipped away

Was embarrassed every day

And started getting deeper in the dope game

And now the cocaine burns his nose

While the memories roll inside him

She was 16 and living life without her daddy by her side

He had left them one stormy night to go drinking and never return

Yeah the memories hurt, her soul, she’s looking for love

And running to some guys she thought were sent from the heavens above

But he only wanted one thing from her and he got it

But he got caught off guard with that baby in her stomach

EPT test she took (positive) yeah he got up

Left out, and never looked back (negative)

But she had that baby regardless

bottles of hydrocodone

And no longer cares about all the things she used to

She’s selling pills

Got locked up and child services took that baby away

So he don’t know much about his family

Before the orphanage, he just wanted out here

Yeah now he’s an adolescent

Sitting on the house steps

When the truck pulled up out of nowhere

But a gray-bearded man stepped out
