The other night I ran into this old boy at a bonfire

He’s got a vision of hearing himself on the station he listens to

The problem is he don’t know nobody that knows the business

And clearly his talents are better than most

Out by that bonfires glow there’s a look on folks faces like they seen a ghost

He just another star that hasn’t shined

Just another lump of coal in a diamond mine

So they made a couple calls and had A&R's from a label

On the way down with the deal then laid it out on the table

Two days later he was in Nashville signin' them papers

The savior had answered the prayers he was prayin'

So he’s slaving away and won’t let his chance disappear like them vapors

Nah he caught all of it and bottled it

And every morning he opens his motivation and swallows it

Now he’s a star that’s about to shine

He was just a lump of coal now he’s the biggest diamond in the mine

In time he would find more success more money more friendliness

Then he could ever dream of havin'
