How long until a memory fades?

I was yours from the beginning

Her and I once, digging with spades

Cuz' you were my queen

And I was the one-eyed Jack

Had visions of staying up late and through to the morning

Beams of amber all go shooting the sun and even moonscape

Each layer was one age, never recreating or ending orbit

Ripple of crashing dreams I felt the desert highway

My eyes were glazed and there was this cactus

That was you, just bending your arm to wave

How long until a memory fades?

And the test of time proves uneven and inaccurate

I heard a roaring seismic wave washed ashore

We made a beautiful beach of old crumbled-down buildings

I felt a trembling from two tectonically-moved plates

Their molten seams: bleeding lava, building, crumbling, and rebuilding

Even ancient-filled air some down in the valley sutures when carving for far

too long

How long until our memories fade?

Within graves' sake… beyond, eons

All conscious states tangled

Barely even coped with the whole thing reasonably
