Tracing my way home to Maine

There’s color on the trees

Boats out on the seas

There’s a schooner out in Yorktown

She’s white as a wedding gown

Breaking the crest of the waves

I saw my ghost in Portland

On the cobblestones a younger man

Trying his best to misbehave

Through Hickory Grove

A cider house with frost on the eaves

There’s a woman up in Camden

With a brass bed I could land in

Makes me wonder why I’d leave

Papa’s in his wool cap

Waiting on a cold snap

Fixing up a Sunday feast
