Well I’m sorry to say it but we both know

That this journey has still got ten minutes to go

And our throats are dry

Our eyes are blank at the sky

We’ve got nothing much else to say

It was nice to converse for a moment or two

But we’ve both got destinations and our own things to do

For the news is stale

Significance has paled

I’ve told you all of my tales

The truth that we just can’t hide

With our gaze we can deny

We’re both searching for reasons why

We used to be close but now we’ve drifted apart

And I’ve found that absence really hardens the heart

Now I have to leave but please don’t think of this

As nothing much achieved save for a parting kiss

When the buzz is all new
