Soon Enough

There was a time I thought we could make it

to tear down walls I tried

Was it for real?

Or did we fake it?

Denying what we felt inside.

And now you seem so cold and distant

where once love did reside

how can you be so suddenly twisted?

beneath the empty shell you hide?

Will it take your breath away?

and demand your silence?

Will it cause you to delay?

or surrender to violence?

And soon enough I’ll have my reasons

And soon enough I’ll cross that line

And soon enough I’ll find my rhythm

And soon enough I’ll learn to be fine

And now I feel so worn and faded

with all that I must leave behind

How can it be?

How did we get so jaded?

Could it be that I was blind?

And will it haunt you everyday?

And break down your defenses?

Will it take the pain away?

If you dulled your senses?

And soon enough I’ll have my reasons

And soon enough I’ll cross that line

And soon enough I’ll find my rhythm

And soon enough I’ll learn to be fine

And a strange thing happened on the way to salvation

Out of all the madness came a startling revelation

Sometimes wrong is the way it’s meant to be

And now I’m so thankful that I know the way things stand.
